TO LOVE YOU MORE
part two: calling forth your power
An Open Floor Movement Lab w/ Kelsey Maloney
~An exploration of power through dance, story, and connection~
This is how the story starts:
She begins in innocence, tending familiar ground. Tending what she knows. She’s betrayed by someone meant to protect her. Someone who’d lost his center. Lost his way. The sacrifice she’s asked to make is tremendous. In the aftermath, she severs her relationship with false niceties. With complacency. She chooses the dark thickets of the forest instead.
How’s the story go from there?
Come explore your own recipe for power from the ground up through dance, story & connection.
Our story muse during this lab will be “The Handless Maiden” wonder tale. Sometimes wonder tales are called fairy tales. When we step into the realm of wonder tales we are dipping into:
dream consciousness
clues & maps for navigating life
connection with the world soul and soul language
the world of questions
timelessness and timeliness
the possibility for multiple levels of interpretation (widening our lens)
the potential to transform from one level of consciousness to another
an opportunity to dive as deep as you’d like to go
TO LOVE YOU MORE wasn’t the original name of this lab. But when I dreamt into the purpose, the WHY, of this particular body of work, TO LOVE YOU MORE was at the root of the inquiry.
To love yourself more. To love another more. To love this world more. To love the wild mystery more.
To love both that which holds you and all that is crumbling around you, more. Inspiration also comes from the book LEARNING TO LOVE YOU MORE by Harrell Fletcher & Miranda July.
While this is part two of a two part movement lab series, you do not need to be a participant in part one (welcoming in the monstrous) to join part two! There will be a combination of folks from the previous lab and those who are attending only part two.
Please note:
-There will be art, connection, and/or further learning invitations between labs.
-You will need a notebook for the group. One that you can write, draw, and paint in (for example, one with blank drawing or watercolor pages). It doesn’t have to be big. Small or medium sized is great... Any size you can carry around with you on a day to day basis is best!
